A tenderloin steak, often referred to as filet mignon or just "filet," is a premium cut of beef that is highly regarded for its tenderness and mild taste. It is cut from the tenderloin, which is a muscle that runs along the cow's spine and doesn't get much exercise, meaning there is very little connective tissue.
One of the most expensive beef cuts is the tenderloin since it only produces a tiny amount of meat each animal and needs to be carefully trimmed to eliminate any extra fat or silver skin. It is frequently cooked fast due to its softness and served rare or medium-rare to preserve its juicy texture.
Tenderloin steaks are popular on special occasion menus, fine dining menus, and steakhouse menus. They are commonly served with a sauce or compound butter to enhance their flavour and can be prepared in a variety of methods, such as grilling, broiling, or pan-searing.
